Hello, Everyone! Today I’d like to mention a Quilting Challenge and the very important Organization the Challenge is recognizing.
The National Quilters Circle has announced their Quilting for a Cause Quilt Challenge. They have designed a quilt pattern especially for the challenge and are sharing that pattern with us to make a quilt and donate it to Project Linus. All the information to fill you on the Challenge is here. https://go.nationalquilterscircle.com/a19230/
I’d like to talk a little more about Project Linus. I’ve had personal contact with a group of volunteers that gathers at JoAnn Fabric store here in Reno once a month. They make quilts, fleece blankets, and crochet and knit afghans for children in need. While I worked at JoAnn’s I always looked forward to seeing this delightful group of people once a month. There is a particular Gentleman who brings in quilts he has made himself- he does absolutely amazing work! There is a drop bin at the back of JoAnn’s for donations as well.
Please go to the Project Linus site for more information on them https://www.projectlinus.org Their Mission statement is admirable and of course, what they do to help the children is wonderful. If you want to donate handmade blankets there are some criteria to follow. If you’d like to reach out to the Northern Nevada area Coordinator her name is Fran M. 775.846.2583
Project Linus has nearly 400 chapters nationwide. Please consider a donation of a handmade quilt or blanket. Of course, if you don’t do the crafty thing they accept monetary donations too. The kind gift of a blanket warms the spirit of a child ten fold.
