This past week I’ve been finishing some sets of quilted placemats. This past June I spent 4 glorious days at the Quilt Show here in Reno. I took a bunch of longarm classes and shopped for 3 days. While I was shopping I found a panel of baking themed blocks and some companion fabrics that are so cute! I cut the blocks apart and added the companion fabrics to reach the placemat size I wanted. I went to JoAnn Fabric store and found the fabric for the back. I get so excited when I’m looking for backing fabric and find the PERFECT one for my project. The vintage look and feel of those kitchen items is fun and a nice secondary look on your table.
I put the placemat tops on my longarm and cross-hatched a 2” wide straight line quilt pattern. I used a light loft polyester batting. I finished them with a traditional 2-1/2” binding.
The panel had eight blocks so I made two sets of four placemats. They are posted on my ETSY site; my Shop page has the link to magically transport you.
They turned out so nice! What do you think?
